Head Coach: David Marks
David Marks brings close to 20 years of coaching experience to the Philadelphia Freedom organization. His goal is to teach lacrosse fundamentals, the skills necessary to help his players increase their lacrosse IQ, and sportsmanship both on and off field.
Coach Marks grew up in Chester County, PA and played lacrosse for Downingtown High School where he was a four year letter winner and still holds the record for career points. Marks was named an All American in his senior season and was selected to play in the North/South All-Star game. He played Division I lacrosse starting at Villanova University and then transferring to Johns Hopkins University for his junior and senior years, where he was named Most Improved Senior.
Since graduating in 1998, Marks has coached the collegiate, high school and youth levels, working as an assistant coach for Villanova University and Downingtown High School and as a head coach for Lionville Lacrosse and Freedom Lacrosse Club.
Coach Marks works for Hartford Mutual Funds based in Radnor, PA.
Assistant Coach: Mfon Udo
Mfon Udo is a native of New York City, where he was an All-American and a two-time Empire State games selection at Jamaica High School. Coach Udo enjoyed an outstanding career as a midfielder and attackman for Loyola College from 1991-1994. As a 4 year starter and lettermen he led the Greyhounds to NCAA appearances in all four years.
Mfon has been a devoted coach and teacher of lacrosse for over 20 years, coaching extensively at the youth level in Maryland, Delaware and locally in the West Chester Youth Lacrosse program. He has also worked with selected high school players preparing them for the college recruiting process and the transition to the Division I level.
During the day Coach Udo runs his own Salesforce.com services consulting firm.
Assistant Coach: Scott McMahon
Scott McMahon is a native of Syracuse, NY and starred at Liverpool High School which he led to the State Championship in 1989. He received numerous awards including being named a high school All-American, NYS player of the year, and led the state in scoring his senior year. Coach McMahon enjoyed an outstanding career as an attackman for the University of Maryland from 1989-1993. As a 4 year lettermen, Coach McMahon played in the final four and was named captain his senior year. He led the Terps to NCAA appearances in all four years while being named all-conference, voted outstanding attackmen, and playing in the North/South all-star game featuring the top seniors in the country.
Scott has been a devoted coach and teacher of lacrosse for over 15 years while coaching extensively at the youth level in Maryland and locally in the Lionville Youth Lacrosse program. He is entering into his 8th season as a coach with the Freedom lacrosse club.
During the day Coach McMahon overseas the development and management platform for a nationally recognized hotel company.
Assistant Coach: Ryan Traynor
Ryan Traynor grew up in Downingtown and played Lacrosse and Soccer at Malvern Prep with numerous honors. Coach Traynor attended Randolph-Macon college from 1992-1996. He was a four year starter and two year captain on both the Soccer and Lacrosse teams, while also being awarded multiple all conference and 1996 All-American honors. Coach Traynor was drafted by the Philadelphia Wings and enjoyed a 5 year career as a professional lacrosse player. Ryan has enjoyed teaching and coaching lacrosse at many different levels including the Lionville youth lacrosse program, and as an assistant coach at both Malvern Prep and West Chester University. When Ryan is not on the fields coaching he enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children and has a busy career in the medical device field.
